I had one asshole come in and brag about getting 6 free pizzas in a row by gaming the system like that. If that doesn't happen, customer gets free pizza. So if we have 0 orders in front of them, and run it out to them the second it gets boxed, its hunky dory. They will set a timed order and check in THE MINUTE THE ORDER DROPS. Worse? People game the system constantly. Good deal for the customer, shitty deal for the store. If we don't route it to an insider within 2 minutes, the customer gets an email for a free pizza. If the order has been cleared off the screen (in theory, its been made, but we commonly clear orders off the screen early), then the system gives us 7 minutes for the oven, then we have 2 minutes to route it to an insider.
You order carside, and when you get to the store, you check in. This 2 minute guarantee is basically the dumbest ass move Dominos corporate has done to us in a while.īasically it works like this. Our franchise just took away our store's ability to turn off online deliveries for when there are too many and not enough drivers, it can really be a shitshow depending on the store location and who's overseeing it. I don't think there's an easy solution to your problem except that the store most likely needs to hire more inside workers, but until they can get enough people inside to work phones and front counter without halting production completely, you might be out of luck.ĮDIT: There is a failsafe for preventing new orders being placed online orders can be disabled, or delivery orders can be turned off temporarily until a store catches up, but many higher ups don't want you to do this because it means lost revenue. If your order has taken up to an hour and hasn't been put into the oven, chances are makeline is still backed up from orders for previous hours and they're staying on makeline to make sure wait time doesn't get that much worse by stopping to answer phones. If you've only got 2 people in there (or god forbid, one person), there's one person on oven making sure food doesn't hit the floor and one person on makeline making sure that orders don't stop being made, leaving nobody to pick up lines, even calls for checking on orders. There's not really anything you can do to make them pick up either, most of the lack of picking up lines (at least from what I've observed at our store when shit hits the fan) is because of staffing problems inside the store. The promo will play on loop until the line is picked up.

There's a way to skip the initial promo loop before the phone rings at the store (mostly so drivers can get in contact with someone at the store faster if the payment method needs to be changed for example), but that won't do you any good if they're not picking up the phones period.
